Piyush Thakkar is a finance professional with over 20 years of investment experience across real estate credit, structured finance, and risk management.
He specialises in structuring asset-backed investments with strong downside protection, with a clear focus on capital preservation and consistent, risk-adjusted returns. His investment approach emphasises careful selection of counterparties, strong collateral cover, and disciplined structuring to mitigate risks across market cycles.
Over the years, Piyush has worked across origination, underwriting, risk management, and portfolio oversight, giving him a well-rounded perspective on investing. He has worked closely with developers, sponsors, and institutional investors, combining strong risk discipline with practical investment execution to navigate different credit cycles and market environments.
He has been involved in investments of over USD 3 billion across real estate and corporate credit, including complex and special situation transactions. He has extensive experience in evaluating investment opportunities, structuring bespoke financing solutions, and actively monitoring portfolios to ensure performance and timely exits.
Prior to joining Arnya, he was a Founding Member at Ionic Wealth & Asset Management (Angel One Group), where he built and led the debt investment platform across multiple strategies.
Earlier, he spent nearly two decades with the Kotak Group across banking, NBFC, private wealth, and fund management. In his last role, he served as Chief Risk Officer at Kotak Mahindra Investment Ltd, overseeing credit and portfolio risk, and was a key member of the firm’s Credit, Investment, and Risk Committees.
He is a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Pt Ravi Shankar Shukla University, Raipur.
